Teacher of the Year to Serve as Grand Marshal of Wabash Days Parade

Jessica Karll, 3rd grade teacher at Discovery Ridge, will lead the Aug. 25 parade.

3rd grade teacher Jessica Karll has been chosen to serve as the Honorary Grand Marshal of the Wabash Days Parade.

Mrs. Karll was selected as the Wentzville School District “Teacher of the Year” for the 2011-12 school year. She is in her fifth year with the Wentzville School District and has taught at Discovery Ridge since it opened in 2010.

Mrs. Karll serves on the District communication arts committee and her class has been selected as a model classroom for District professional development.  She serves as the building Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) chair, and in 2011 her students and third-grade team had MAP scores that were among the highest in St. Charles, St. Louis, and surrounding counties.

Not only is she recognized by her professional peers, but Mrs. Karll is also loved and respected by her students. One of her student's parents summed up Mrs. Karll's strengths best by sharing, "She really cares about our daughter and pushes her to work to her full potential."

Wabash Days, now in its 9th year, is a celebration of Wentzville’s history and railroad heritage. The parade starts at noon on Saturday, August 25, and the theme of this year’s parade is “Get on Board”! The parade starts at Budget Towing on Luetkenhaus Boulevard and will move west on Pearce Blvd, left on Linn, right on W. Main, and end at the .
