Wentzville, Lake Saint Louis Will Participate in Sales Tax Holiday Aug. 3-5

Back to school sales tax holiday offers residents a break from taxes on clothing, computers and school supplies.

and are among the many cities in the state which will not collect sales tax on "back to school" items Aug. 3-5.

The state allows some cities to opt out of participating, which means retailers in those cities would charge local sales tax, but not state sales tax.

Shoppers will avoid paying state sales tax on clothing, personal computers and school supplies.

See a full list of what is included in the definition of clothing, computers and school supplies here. Each item of clothing must cost less than $100 for it to be tax free. The total cost of a personal computer must be less than $3,500.
