Wentzville School Board Discusses MAP Scores, Honors High School Graduates
Wentzville School DIstrict students score above state average on MAP testing. Thirteen high school graduates honored for achievements.
At Thursday night’s Wentzville School Board meeting, the board viewed a presentation on 2011 MAP scores for the district.
Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum Susan Gauzy said, though the school did not meet the national proficiency goal, Wentzville students scored very well.
“Our students are performing at a really high level in comparison to students around the nation,” Gauzy said.
Missouri schools are supposed to meet 75 percent student proficiency this year as part of the Adequate Yearly Progress goals set by the No Child Left Behind Act.
By 2014, schools are to meet 100 percent proficiency in math and reading.
Though the fell short of meeting this year’s proficiency goal by only about 10 percent, Gauzy said making 100 proficiency will be a challenge.

Wentzville’s Community Relations Director Matt Deichmann quoted Robert Frost in a speech to the recent grads.
“‘Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, and I took the one less traveled by. And that has made all the difference,’ Deichmann said. “Sometimes it’s about the journey and not the destination. And sometimes it is the destination. You made it.”
