Wentzville School District Receives Its Fifth Consecutive "Distinction in Performance" Designation

District met 14 out of 14 standards for the 2009-2010 school year.

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) has announced that the Wentzville R-IV School District has once again earned the “Distinction in Performance” designation, according to a press release issued by the school district.

The District met 14 out of 14 standards related to academic achievement in the 2009-10 school year, and will receive its fifth consecutive “Distinction in Performance” award from the state of Missouri.  

The evaluation categories include Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) scores, ACT scores, and the number of students taking advanced courses, college placement, graduation rate, and attendance.

“We are honored that our school district has received this award again.  We have a great team, and I know that it could not have been achieved without the dedicated efforts of students, teachers, staff, District families, administration, and the Board of Education,” said Superintendent Dr. Terry Adams.  “I am confident that we will continue to preserve our Accredited with Distinction status and remain one of the best school districts in Missouri.” 

To be fully accredited, a K-12 school district must meet at least 9 of the 14 accreditation standards for academic performance and at least 6 to be provisionally accredited.  A district that meets 5 or fewer standards may be classified as unaccredited by the State Board of Education.  The “Distinction in Performance” award is based on the same criteria used in the accreditation process, and it provides an annual confirmation and recognition of a district’s consistent performance.
