The release quotes Dr. Adams:

“I resigned with mixed emotions, for while I’m looking forward to spending more time with my family, I will miss my wonderful coworkers and our great students. I have thoroughly enjoyed my seven years with the Wentzville School District, and I am very proud of all of our employees and what we have accomplished together for the benefit of our students.”

Under Adams' tenure, the release states, the school district:

  • Opened three new elementary schools, a transportation facility, added over 100 new classrooms to existing buildings and will open Liberty High School in O'Fallon in August to its first freshman class.
  • Added full-day kindergarten.
  • Implemented the successful Singapore Math Program.
  • Increased rigor in the curriculum, adding 25 Advanced Placement (AP) classes over the past six years. As a result, the WSD is the only school district in the state to be named to the College Board AP Honor Roll for each of the past three years.
  • Introdiced Project Lead the Way (PLTW) classes in 2007, and offered students hands-on learning opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) related fields. Earlier this month Holt and Timberland became the first high schools in the County to receive National Certification of the PLTW Biomedical Sciences Program.

Before the arrival of Dr. Adams in 2006 the District had never received the “Accredited with Distinction” designation from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, but since then the District has received the award every year. In Dr. Adams first year the District had financial reserves of 6%, and today the District enjoys financial reserves of over 30%, and has received the Meritorious Budget Award for the past two years. Dr. Adams was named the Missouri School Public Relations Association Superintendent of the Year in 2010, and the Missouri Association of School Administrators Superintendent of the Year in 2012.
