Wentzville Schools Collect Over 10 Tons of Food

Ten schools in the  held food drives this school year to help stock the shelves at Operation Food Search (OFS), according to a press release from the school district.

Those schools are:

• Frontier Middle School
• Crossroads Elementary School
• Discovery Ridge
• Lakeview 
• Prairie View, 
• . 

The schools collected more than ten tons of food items to help needy local families. Frontier Middle School led the collection with over 7,000 items.

“We have a great partnership with the Wentzville School District, the students and staff work so hard to make this happen,” said Karen Gladieux, Community Relations Director for OFS. “It’s wonderful that these schools are able to collect more food items every year, because unfortunately in this economy we need it to help more families every year.”  

Food drives are a critical source of non-perishable food for OFS. Not only do they bring in important canned food, dry goods, and personal care items, they also increase awareness about the problem of hunger in the community.

Operation Food Search distributes more than two million pounds of food and household items to more than 150 community agencies in the bi-state region each month. In turn, the community agencies feed more than 120,000 people with that food, the organization's website reports.

Nearly half of the recipients are children.
