Whiz Kid Plans a Future in Medicine

Lake Saint Louis' own Nick Miller was recognized recently by Partners in Progress.

School: St. Dominic High School

Accomplishment: Miller was one of 11 students in St. Charles County honored by Partners for Progress of Greater St. Charles as part of its STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) initiative.

Key to Awesomeness: He will successfully complete every science course offered at St. Dominic and advanced placement calculus. Last semester, he completed an independent study project with the head of the Chemistry Department at Loyola University in Chicago, creating a biofuel from naturally occurring material. He was able to create a biofuel acceptable to industry standards as a safe and usable product in diesel vehicles. He also participated in Washington University’s mini-medical school. He plans to study pre-med with an emphasis in chemistry.
