Blues Alumni Face Off with Lindenwood
The DASA fundraiser featured the St. Louis Blues Alumni against Lindenwood University.
The Disabled Athlete Sports Association held an ice hockey tournament Sunday to raise funds for the many programs they sponser for disabled athletes. Based in St. Peters and founded in 1997, the association sponsers programs in the St Louis area as well as Columbia.
Prior to the Blues Alumni/Lindenwood game, the Phoenix Coyotes played the San Antonio Rampage. The Rampage are based at Brooks City-Base and contain veterans who have been wounded in action. The Rampage brought their A-game and the match featured checking, boarding and holding that would have made Tony Twist proud. The action was non stop and when the horn sounded to end the game the Rampage came out on top 6-1.
The Blues alumni game was a different story. In a game that resembled a father/son contest, checking was rare. However, when the speedy youngsters had the puck, the bumping and holding began. Crosschecks with a smile, hooking followed by a pat on the back and holding that resembled a hugfest at Christmas was the only thing that slowed the speedy youngsters.

The former Blues can still play position and make blind passes that had the Lindenwood team chasing them from end to end.
When the game ended, the fans cheered, money was raised for a very worthy cause and the alumni won a fun game 5-4.
