2012 USA Junior Olympic Sailing Festival and Pirate Party

The Lake Saint Louis Sailing & Paddling Club is pleased to present the 2012 USA Junior Olympic Sailing Festival - Midwest, on July 20-22, 2012. We plan to race fleets of Sunfish (singles and doubles), Lasers, Laser Radials and Optis, but we’ll welcome any other fleets of one-design sailboats.

We are looking for sailors from 8-21 years of age of all skill levels - from novice to collegiate - to join us for a weekend full of sailing and fun. We’ll have Friday morning and afternoon sailing lessons for the new or novice sailors, as well as our very popular annual Pirate Party for all sailors (open to sailors/future sailors as young as 5) on Friday afternoon starting at 4:00pm. Racing will take place on Saturday and Sunday. Sailors can choose to participate in the Friday lessons, the Pirate Party, the racing, or any combination of these activities. Spectators are encouraged to view the action up close - the races will take place on Lake Sainte Louise and will be just offshore from the Lake Saint Louis Community Association Clubhouse.

The Junior Olympic Sailing Program is a nationwide series of regattas for youth ages 8 to 21. Each event in this family of regattas is hosted by a different club or organization, but all events share a common goal: to promote the 2012 USA Junior Olympic Sailing Festival - Midwest enjoyment of sailing and development of skills to young sailors as well as provide an Olympic pathway for talented junior sailors. Events mix Olympic-style competition with elements of learning and fun for all levels--from beginning racers to those with Olympic aspirations.  In 2012, 25 events are planned in the continental United States and Hawaii, and nearly 4,000 sailors are expected to participate.  Junior Olympic Sailing is coordinated by US SAILING and sponsored by West Marine and Gill.
