Morning Star Church Starts New Yoga Sessions

Morning Star Church is offering four different yoga classes starting on Wednesday, May 2, 2012. Dede Schreiner, certified yoga instructor, leads all 75-minute classes, which are open to all levels. The classes are offered at Morning Star Church (1600 Feise Road, Dardenne Prairie, Mo 63368). Drop-in rate is $10 per session.

Yoga Flow (Wednesdays, 9 a.m. / 4-Week Session for $36) Designed for those desiring to begin a regular Yoga practice or deepen an existing practice. Linking breath with movement, this fun flowing class will keep the heart rate elevated, improve balance, build stamina and re-energize all systems of the body. Includes standing and seated poses and a time of peaceful rest and meditation.

Slow Yoga Flow (Wednesdays, 12 p.m. / 4-Week Session for $36) A mindful, slow flow with attention to deep breathing and alignment. Excellent for developing core strength, muscular strength, flexibility and stress reduction. Students develop skills of concentration and patience that help focus the mind in moving meditation.

Restorative Yoga (Wednesdays, 6:30 p.m. / 4-Week Session for $36) Class is open to all who want to relax deeply, and ideal for those chronically stressed. Experience how Yin-style stretching, deep breathing and Christian meditation combine to build strength, calm the mind, and uplift the spirit. Props such as blankets, bolsters and blocks are used as a support for the body to bring about peaceful relaxation.

Hatha Yoga (Thursdays, 6:30 p.m. / 4-Week Session for $36) Excellent for developing flexibility, balance and stress reduction. Prior yoga experience helpful, but not necessary.

Dear Karla. I'm so sorry for your family's loss. I know when we went through something similar withRead More our cat, who had been with my wife for 19 years, it was like we'd been hit by a truck. I didn't expect to be affected as much as I was. Sorry this isn't a doggie memory...we're cat people, but the feeling is the same.

I, too, didn't expect to be affected as much as I was - especially since I knew she was "elderly" for a dog. :)
