Holdren Sets Homerun Record

Rascals on fire at T.R. Hughes.

River City outfielder/designated hitter Stephen Holdren slammed a solo home run in the sixth inning on Thursday to lead the Rascals to a 4-1 win over Windy City and a sweep of the three-game series at .    

Holdren set a franchise record for most home runs in a season with his 20th round-tripper of the campaign.   

"It's a special honor," Holdren said after the game.

The blast broke a 1-1 tie and sent the Rascals to their 20th win in the last 23 games.    

Holdren leads the entire Frontier League in home runs this season. He has 99 in his career - three behind Charlie Lisk of Gateway, the all-time home run king.

River City (51-17) has won 11 successive games at home and will host East Division leader Joliet in a three-game set Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The two teams lead their respective divisions and could meet for the league championship in September.
