Holt Enjoys Success on Big Stage at State Track Meet in Jefferson City

Holt senior Kenny Cushing and sophomore Nataliyah Friar each won championships.

Several area athletes participated in the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Track and Field Championships in Jefferson City last Friday and Saturday. Here are some area highlights:

The Holt boys finished fourth overall with 31 points, 10 behind first-place Hazelwood Central.

Holt senior Kenny Cushing took first in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4:12.50. Cushing also placed second in the 800 in 1:53.59.

Holt senior Chris Campbell placed fourth in the 400-meter dash in 48.76.

The Holt boys 4x400 relay team placed second with a time of 3:18.21. The team included senior Darian Jones, senior Anthony Price, Cushing and senior Chris Campbell.

The Holt girls finished 13th out of 44 teams with 21 points.

Holt sophomore Nataliyah Friar took first place in the long jump last Friday with a leap of 18-11.50. Friar also won the triple jump the following day with a jump of 39-11.25. She also placed eighth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.50.

Timberland sophomore Josh McDonald placed fifth in the discus with a throw of 158-03.
