Holt Soccer Shutout by Priory

The Rebels won in a 5-0 blitz of Wentzville Holt Thursday.

O’FALLON—The Priory Rebels, the No. 1 team in the area small school rankings with a 3-0 record, with shutout wins in all three games, won a 5-0 decision over , in the semifinals of the Fast Lane Super Cup Tournament, Thursday night at St. Dominic High.

“It turned out to be (easier) than I thought,” head coach John Mohrmann said. “All the teams in this tournament are good. It was just a couple of early goals go in, we got our confidence up, and we had a little bit of breathing room.”

Rebel standouts Andrew Rhodes, Jacob Mohrmann, and Sam Newman each scored their second goals of the season for Priory, while teammates Kyle Collins and Andy Kopfensteiner netted their first tallies of the season.

“For the first 15 minutes, we were good, we hung in there,” Holt head coach Frank Livingston said. “Then we kind of gave up a bad goal. Then we kind of put our heads down.”

And by halftime, that 1-0 slip-up had turned into a 3-0 bulge, and quite a tall task to overcome against the No. 1 team in the area.
