Holt, Timberland Athletes Sign National Letters of Intent

Athletes from the Wentzville School District will be competing in college football, soccer, basketball, baseball and track next fall.

An impressive group of young athletes from Holt and Timberland have recently signed National Letters of Intent.

Holt High School:

  • Holt basketball player Kayla Gibson has signed to play for Harris-Stowe State University next year. Gibson averaged 6.8 points and 3.2 rebounds per game this past year.
  • Holt track standout Kenny Cushing will compete for the University of Missouri Tigers next year. This past season Cushing finished 14th at the State Cross Country meet, and was the GAC Conference Champion in the 800 meter, 1600 meter, and the 4x400 relay. He is a member of the All-State Track Team, and has competed in the Junior Olympics.
  • Holt soccer player Ryan Haas plans to play college soccer for Drury University in Springfield, MO. “I like the soccer program, they have a great coaching staff, and I just really felt that it was a good fit overall,” said Haas. He led the Indians soccer team with 26 points this past season, and was a first team All-Conference selection in both his junior and senior years.
  • Holt football player and second team All-Conference running back Terrence Tate will travel to Marshall, MO to play for the Missouri Valley Vikings.,
  • Holt Wide receiver Luke Weatherred has also signed to play for the Missouri Valley Vikings in Marshall.
  • Holt Quarterback Jordan Smetana, a member of the GAC South All-Academic Team and the recipient of the Conference Sportsmanship Award, will attend Central Methodist University.

Tate, Weatherred and Smetana helped lead the 2010 Indians to a 6- 5 record and into the playoffs.

  • Holt baseball player Mike Rivolta has signed his NLI to play for the University of Rockford next year. “I like the town, I have a good relationship with the coach, and it’s a really great environment,” said Rivolta, who plans on majoring in chemistry.

Timberland:

  • Timberland football player Haleem Rayford, second team All-Conference running back, will attend the University of Central Missouri.
  • First team All-Conference Linebacker Nik Jehle, Timberland Wolves Team Defensive Player of the Year has signed to play for  Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas.
  • Second team All-Conference offensive lineman Cody Coleman, Timberland Wolves Team Offensive Lineman of the Year, will play for  Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas.

Haleem Rayford, Nik Jehle, and Cody Coleman helped lead the Wolves to a 23-9 record over the past three years and into the playoffs twice.

  • Timberland soccer player Derek Rehagen, who has been named a 1st Team All-Conference player for three straight years and was also the GAC Player of the Year his junior year, will play for the Evansville Purple Aces.
  • Timberland soccer forward Jake Hawes, a member of the All-Conference Academic Team for the past three years, will play for the William Woods Owls in Fulton, Missouri.

Derek Rehagen and Jake Hawes helped lead the Wolves to their first 20-win season, their first district championship, and into the state quarterfinals.
