5 Types of 4-H Projects Showcased at the St. Charles County Fair

The St. Charles County Fair continues through Saturday, July 27.

County fairs, are—first and foremost—a showcase for the projects of area 4-H members.

4-H is an national youth development program. Its roots go back to the early 1900s, with agricultural and home economics-based youth clubs that grew out of the USDA's Cooperative Extension Service.

Check out all the projects at this year's St. Charles County Fair. Inside the Kolb Building are:

  • Gardening
  • Food canning and baking
  • Arts and crafts, including drawing, photography, sculpture, scrapbooking, fabric arts, woodworking
  • Small engines and electronics
  • Research and educational projects
