St. Louis Heat Wave Not Backing Down, Today's High: 109

The thermometer is around 100 degrees now, and predicted to climb.

Weather reporters have said it would be 106, then 108, now the National Weather Service is predicting a high of 109 for today.

Highs of 108, 105, 102 and 103 are predicted in the coming days.

, here is some advice to beat the heat (as if anyone needs to be told to stay inside in air conditioning!)

  • Stay in air conditioned areas as much as possible.
  • Consume lots of water.
  • Wear light-colored clothing outdoors.
  • Avoid cotton clothing and opt for fabrics that allow your skin to breathe, better enabling it to cool off.
  • If you need to run errands, do so early in the morning. 6 a.m. tends to be the coolest part of the day.

Also, be a shepherd. Check on loved ones, friends and family. If you know a senior citizen, be sure to call or stop by and ensure they are using air.
