Personal Responsibility Solves So Many Problems

My definition of personal responsibility

My opinions are never humble because they're based on facts.  So let me give you what personal responsibility means to me.

Personal responsibility is taking ownership in your life and those that depend on you, namely your family. It’s not blaming video games when your kid gets in trouble at school—perhaps you should not have bought the game.

It’s not blaming medication when you wreck your car—you shouldn’t have been driving.

It’s not blaming the bank when you take out a loan you know you cannot afford.

It’s not blaming pop culture when your 16-year-old daughter turns up pregnant—you should have been more attentive to her activities.

It’s not blaming McDonald’s when you weigh 400 pounds—no one forced you to eat there.

It’s not blaming credit companies when you max out your card—you weren’t made to shop.

It’s not blaming sugar when your teeth rot out—you didn’t have to use it.

It’s not blaming cigarettes when you cannot breathe—they're called smokes for a reason.

It’s not blaming alcohol when your liver gives out—even a drunk knows that.

It’s not blaming the bar when you get a DUI.

It’s not blaming the gun when someone is shot.

It’s not blaming the rich when you’re poor.

It’s not blaming happy when you're sad.

It’s not taking every offer of credit that comes your way.

The list of personal responsibility is a long one and the blame game victim mentality of society that we find ourselves in is a dangerous one—"this is not my fault" attitude coupled with the liberal progressive propaganda of the same song that "it’s not your fault" has to stop.

I’m sorry it is your fault, you acted stupidly. So this is a teachable moment—your actions, your choices—good or bad are yours and no one else's. No one forced you to do anything! Not to take out a loan you couldn’t pay back, buy a house you couldn’t afford or go to a expensive college. No one maxed out your cards and spent you into debt—no one but you. So stop blaming the world for the bad decisions you made—the blame is in the mirror—go have a look.

It is high time a large segment of the population grows up and take responsibility for their mistakes, but I know it is a long hard road as long as we have a not my fault loser in the White House—doubt me? Just do a Google search of "Obama blames" and look at the returns. When we have a president that can’t take personal responsibility for his actions, how can his loyal drones be expected to do it?

It’s a generational problem that will not be fixed overnight or even in a decade or two. It will take a long time for the children of all ages to grow up.

Personal responsibility is not code words for "screw you." Personal responsibility keeps you from being screwed. Get a clue.
