Rain Garden Planting Set for Sept. 24

With work on the rain garden and bioretention basin nearly complete, the city is looking for volunteers to help with planting.

is looking for volunteers to help finish planting the new rain garden and bioretention demonstration area in at an event on Sept. 24, at 9 a.m.

Volunteer planting will run from 9 a.m. to approximately 11 a.m., and volunteers are asked to bring their own planting trowel, spade or rake. Refreshments will be provided.

The project, which was , is nearly complete. At the Sept. 24 planting event, Information will be provided describing what a rain garden is and how residents can build one on their own property.

Representatives and members from the City of Lake Saint Louis, Jardin du Lac Garden Club members, and St. Charles County Soil and Water Conservation District will be available to answer questions from residents who are interested in native plants and improving the water quality in Lake Saint Louis' streams and lakes.
 
The rain garden and bioretention basin project was partially funded by the US Environmental Protection Agency Region 7, through the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. Additional funding, as well as volunteer assistance, has been provided by Jardin du Lac Garden Club, LSL Environmental Advisory Committee, St. Charles County Soil and Water Conservation District, and Missouri Master Naturalists.

In the event of rain, the planting day will be rescheduled for October 1.
