Registration Is Open for 2012 Polar Plunge

The Lake Saint Louis Community Association will once again host the Special Olympics fundraiser on Feb. 4.

 

"Fun" isn't exactly the word that comes to mind when you think about jumping into a frozen lake in February. But the Special Olympics' Polar Plunge is exactly that. In addition, the event raises money to improve the lives of thousands of local children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

Registration is now open for the 2012 Polar Plunge, which is held at the Community Association clubhouse.

Participants can register online and use a secure system to create a personal fundraising page where donations from friends and family are tallied. The Plunge's website offers the following guidelines:

  • The Polar Plunge is open to anyone 14 and older.
  • Plungers use their fundraising pages to raise the minimum of $75.
  • Plungers break records of their own by raising much more than the mimimum to earn cool prizes!
  • Plungers wear shoes and at least a bathing suit (no wet suits allowed). Costumes encouraged!
