MoDOT officials said the project should be wrapped up in 18 months.
Officials from MoDOT, state and local legistators and the mayors of St. Charles, O'Fallon, Weldon Spring, Cottleville, Dardenne Prairie and Lake Saint Louis lifted symbolic shovels of dirt Wednesday morning to commemorate the beginning of Phase 3 of the Page Avenue Extension. Ed Hassinger, a district engineer with MoDOT, told the gathered crowd that the project should be complete in 18 months. He spoke about the tremendous cooperation between all levels of government that the project required. St. Charles County Executive Steve Ehlmann said that the project, which follows the path of the old Boonslick Trail, started with a corridor preservation study 20 years ago. Then, when a time of financial crisis threatened the completion of the …
Nearly 500 motorcycle riders made a stop in Wentzville on their way to the Vietnam memorial in Washington, D.C.
For the 25th time in 25 years, Wentzville played host to nearly 500 motorcycle riders Monday night when the Run for the Wall came through town on their yearly cross-country trek to the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C. The group that began their trek in southern California on May 15 rolled into town on Monday evening, making a pass through downtown on their way to the Wentzville VFW Hall on Highway Z. On Tuesday morning, the riders came back through town for a ceremony at Wentzville's Vietnam Memorial, where they laid a wreath. The Holt High School Band added patriotic music to the event, and city officials handed out commemorative bandanas to the riders. Who’s NOT planning a BBQ this weekend? If the weather holds and you’ve got propane or charcoal, chances are, you’re grilling something with your friends and family. Here, new ideas for keeping your costs down. Sponsored by Home Depot.
Here at Patch, we like to be thrifty, so we talked to two barbeque experts and uncovered some really good ideas to help you save money on your next outdoor party. 1. Start with a marinade. This means planning ahead -- say, Friday. But it’s worth it, says Rick Browne, host of Barbeque America on PBS, because you can pass up that well-marbled ribeye steak and buy a less tender and less expensive choice to grill like a flank steak or chuck steak. Just marinate it or brine for one or two days and then cook long and slow on the barbeque grill to break down tissues but maintain moisture. “You need to include an acid in the marinade, perhaps juice, vinegar or soy sauce, but avoid cola which is so acidic it can turn meat into a soggy mess.” Try …

When one of the nearly 500 motorcyclists in town for the Run for the Wall got caught in Monday night's storm, a local woman opened her heart and her home.
On Monday, the City of Wentzville once again played host to the Run for the Wall—a trek made by a group of nearly 500 motorcyclists from around the country who travel from Southern California to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington., D.C. This is the 25th year for the event, and Wentzville has been a stop for all 25 years—the only city with that honor. And there's a reason they keep coming back. The bikers love Wentzville. The group rode into Wentzville on Monday night and stayed at the Wentzville VFW Hall. But one biker and his wife were caught out in last night's storms and torrential rain. Colorado bikers John Filonovich and his wife Ruth found themselves out in the deluge while trying to find their hotel. Filonovich said …

Wentzville get's shafted yet again. Ever notice how MODOT builds these incredible highways right to the edge of Wentzville and then stop any improvements through the city? The bottlenecks on 70 and 40/61 are perfect examples of MODOT's disregard for Wentzville, why couldn't they take 40 and 70 just a few more miles so as not to dump the problem on Wentzville? Now we have the wonderful Page Ave. …   more ›
