Wentzville Man Killed in One-Car Crash on Hwy. N

Robert Taylor, 23, of Wentzville was pronounced dead on the scene at about 11:30 Wednesday night.

A Wentzville man was killed on Hwy. N late Wednesday night when his car ran off the road and hit a tree, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported. Robert D. Taylor, 23, was driving a 1999 Hyundai Sonata eastbound on Hwy. N just west of South Point Prairie Road. His car left the roadway when he was unable to negotiate a curve and he overcorrected, going into the westbound lanes and off the road. The car hit a tree and overturned. Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a safety belt.

Updated: Wentzville Schools on Lockdown Now Safe, Police Say

Police activity near the high school forced school officials to put three Wentzville School District schools on lockdown Wednesday afternoon.

- - - Updated at 9 p.m. - - -  Fox 2 News reported on the incident that prompted Wednesday's school lockdown in Wentzville.  From Fox 2:  Police responded to the 400 block of Kent Drive regarding a reported home invasion. Because it was reported the suspect fled on foot in an area that lies a few blocks from three schools, the schools were placed on “tightened security”. The students were allowed to move freely inside the buildings to change classes. They were not allowed outside. The suspect is described as a thin white male approximately early to mid 20’s,  messy blonde hair approximately 3”4” in length, wearing a white tee shirt and blue jeans. - - - Updated at 2:25 p.m. - - -  Wentzville Police have given the three Wentzville schools …

Classes continued but we were told to move away from Windows and were not aloud to change classes or leave the classrooms. We were ordered to stay in our 6th period and not to move to 7th period till we were told to. Yes this was at Holt.   more ›

Major Shakeup of Wentzville Fire Protection District Puts Top Chiefs on Leave

Chief Randy Bornhop and Assistant Chief Robb Watkins were both placed on paid administrative leave.

A special meeting of the Board of Directors of the Wentzville Fire Protection District on Monday led to a major change in the administration, according to a report in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch  Chief Randy Bornhop and Assistant Chief Robb Watkins were both placed on paid administrative leave, and Fire Marshall Joseph F. Heitkamp was terminated—though, acting Chief Mike Scott would not confirm if he had been let go.  Bornhop has been with the district since he began as a volunteer in 1986. When the city hired its first paid firefighters in 1991, Bornhop was one of the original six.
