The Wentzville Fire Protection District is governed by a three-person board of directors who include, Doug Wynn, E.More Robert Dick and Mark Kaiser. The fire chief is Randy Bishop.

The district began as a volunteer fire organization in 1928 and became a tax supported fire district in 1971.

The district covers over 80 square miles in St. Charles County.

The St. Charles County Department of Dispatch and Alarm is responsible for the dispatch of one fire department, nineMore fire districts and the country-wide ambulance service in St. Charles County.

The facility has nearly 30 full- and part-time dispatchers on site to relay information to 34 fire stations and 15 ambulances bases located at various sites throughout the county.

The city of Lake St. Louis has a strong force in it's fire protection.  There are 13 professional firefighters inMore addition to 50+ volunteers. This district covers a response area of appromately 7 square miles which includes over twelve thousand residents. With the lake being such a big part of this community, the LSL Fire Protection includes a Water Rescue Task Force. There is a rescue boat for use on the lake. The professional firefighters spend their days here at Station 1 and their evenings at Station 2 on S. Ellerman Rd in LSL.  Station 1 is serviced on the nights and weekends by trained volunteer firefighters.
