The fair, located in Wentzville's Rotary Park, has taken extra precautions for the triple-digit temperatures expected this week.
The St. Charles County Fair opens today, Tues., July 24 at Wentzville's Rotary Park, and runs for the next five days. With temperatures expected to hit 105 degrees Tuesday and Wednesday and then to hover just below that through the weekend, fair organizers have taken some extra precautions for this year's event. Ed Siesenop, fair board president, told Patch that misters have been set up, and a cooling tent and an air-conditioned trailer are available for overheated patrons to take a break from the brutal temperatures. Extra paramedics will be on site, and fair staff have been advised about identifying symptoms of heat exhaustion. This is the year's biggest event for 4-Hers. A look back at the St. Charles County Fair.
Five days of fun, 4-H and Ferris wheels came to an end as the 2011 St. Charles County Fair ended Saturday night. Excessive heat warnings were in effect each day of the fair, making for a hot and muggy fair. Mother Nature also threw a lightning strike in on Saturday to make for a really eventful fair. The fair was held at Rotary Park in Wentzville. On Monday, Patch previewed the events of the 2011 fair, providing a schedule of the weeks events. On Wednesday, we had a plethora of fair coverage. Thursday's photo gallery took a look at all the great homemade baked goods and crafts that were entered in the fair for judging. From chickens to goats to steer, raising animals teaches responsibility.
Nine-year-old Tyler Snyders, St. Charles, scrubbed the back of his all-black Angus steer in the late afternoon heat Wednesday at the St. Charles County Fair. The massive animal needed a bath before Tyler would walk him around the ring in front of the judges. This was Tyler's first experience caring for and showing a steer at the St. Charles County Fair. During the past year, Tyler said he learned quite about about what it takes to care for the animal he named "Ferb." "Wash him, feed him, walk him and comb him every day," said Tyler, wiping sweat from his brow. Tyler's parents, Susie and Tim Snyders, want him and his brother Kyle to learn lessons in responsibility through their 4H experiences. Caring for Ferb also helped Tyler confront his …

It's that time of year again — time for 4-H projects, funnel cakes and carnival rides. The St. Charles County County Fair begins Tuesday at Rotary Park in Wentzville. Entry to the fair on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 6-12. Kids age 5 and under get in for free. Admission is $15 for adults on Friday and Saturday. Wednesday is senior citizens day. All adults age 60 and older will get in for $5. Carnival rides are free with the price of admission to the fair. Gates close at 11 p.m. Tuesday, 11:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and midnight Friday and Saturday. The public schedule for the week is as follows:
