Friendly Dog Has Graduated Obedience Classes

Check out these pets available for adoption.

Angel was rescued by a Heartland volunteer over two years ago. She found a wonderful home with people who cared about her very much and were devastated to return her when their living circumstances changed. Angel is a Husky/Shepherd mix. She weighs about 60 pounds and is three years old. Angel is crate and house trained. She gets along with other dogs, but has a fairly high prey drive where cats are concerned and so should be in a cat-free household. Angel has graduated obedience training classes. Angel is a joy to foster and is a sweet, loving dog who will make a wonderful companion. Friendly Beagle Looks For A New Home

"Minnie," a 1 1/2 year old beagle/hound mix loves to explore.

Five Acres Animal Shelter: Diva is a gorgeous 10 year old female who is looking for a nice quiet home to call her own. She enjoys napping in a comfy bed and bird watching from the windows. She is often overlooked at the shelter since she is somewhat older than most of the cats. She hopes the Easter Bunny brings me a home to call her own! She will make a great companion for a busy person that would like companionship, but won’t require constant attention. She'll nap when you’re away and greet you when you come home! Five Acres Animal Shelter is a 501c3 nonprofit organization located in St. Charles. Our mission is to end pet homelessness, promote responsible pet ownership and advocate for animal welfare. We are the only no kill shelter in St…

Adopt a Pet: Meet Daphne the Toy Mouse Loving Cat

All Paws Rescue volunteers need help finding dogs and cats permanent homes.

Pets are available for adoption through All Paws Rescue, an O'Fallon based volunteer group working to save homeless dogs and cats.  All pets are kept in foster homes, where they receive the care they need to help prepare them for a permanent home.  All Paws is supported solely by private donations and fundraisers.  If you're interested in adopting an animal, you can browse their website or attend one of their weekend adoption events at area PetSmart stores. Last year they adopted out close to 300 pets.  This week's featured pet:  Daphne is a seven-year-old female calico. All Paws volunteers say she loves attention and being brushed. Daphne lost her home after her previous owner died.  Volunteers say Daphne is a very sweet cat that loves to…

A Look Back at 2011’s New Laws

Here are the new laws that took effect in Missouri this year.

As we leave 2011 in the past, Patch takes a look back at the laws that will stay with us into the new year and beyond. For a list of all the laws enacted in 2011, check out the Missouri State Senate’s list of 2011 bills. Bath Salts Despite its innocuous name, the substance known as “bath salts” has effects similar to serious drugs when smoked or sniffed. This year, the legislature passed Senate Bill 354 adding bath salts, or methylenedioxypyrovalerone, to the list of schedule 1 controlled substances. St. Charles County also prohibited the sale of bath salts as well this year. Adoptions Two new laws passed this year make it easier for adopted adults and their children to access birth records. Senate Bill 351 allows adopted adults to find …
