Board Votes to Allow Balloons and Flags

Amendment to allow promotional pennant strings, balloons and flags was passed despite residents' objections.

The Lake Saint Louis Board of Aldermen has passed an ordinance to allow the use of promotional balloons, pennant strings and flags at local businesses. Other attention-grabbing devices remain prohibited: streamers, search lights, strobe lights, beacons, inflatable and animated signs and characters. The original bill proposed by the planning and zoning board would have restricted pennants, ballons and flags to the height of the roof and set back ten feet from all property lines. Flags would have been restricted in size to fifteen square feet and a maximum height of twelve feet.
