Incumbents Rule in Wentzville Municipal Elections

In both the Board of Aldermen and Municipal Judge races, incumbents won the right to keep their seats.

Incumbents ruled the day in Tuesday's municipal elections in the City of Wentzville. Municipal Judge Steve Martin will retain his position as municipal judge after winning over challenger Michael Carter. Martin got 1227 votes to Carter's 1057. The new Wentzville Board of Aldermen will look the same as the old one, with Ward 1 incumbent Cheryl Kross beating challenger Robert Hussey. Kross had 456 votes to Hussey's 363. In Ward 3, Michael Hays will keep the seat he was appointed to fill in November of last year. Hays received 255 votes to former alderman Darrel Lackey's 247 and challenger Linda Wright's 142. In Ward 2, Chris Gard ran unopposed and will retain his seat.

George Rich Loses Seat to Former Alderman John Pellerito

Pellerito will return to the board after losing his seat a year ago.

The newcomer to the Ward 3 seat on the Lake Saint Louis board of aldermen is a familiar face—former Ward 3 alderman John Pellerito. Pellerito, who lost his seat on the board to Richard Morris in last year's election, won the election with 255 votes. Incumbent George Rich got 207 votes and challenger Patricia Van Thull got 167 votes. Pellerito has also served on the the Lake Saint Louis Park Board, Tree Board and Environmental committee. He championed the city's smoking ban and the Boulevard Park rain garden and bioretention basin. In Lake Saint Louis Ward 1, incumbent Tony Zito won his race handily, with 409 votes to Larry DeGroodt's 194 votes and Eric Oman's 66 votes. In Ward 2, Kathy Schweikert ran unopposed and retains her seat.
