Timberland Nation

Cafeteria food, a T-shirt machine and even washers and dryers. Timberland High School has all the resources to be a ruling country. Why aren't we using these resources as much as we should?

Timberland High School could truly become its own country. The cafeteria’s abundance of toasted ravioli and processed beans could provide us with mediocre yet sound food. The family consumer students could sew everyone’s clothes and the chemistry lab could provide us with heat by Bunsen burner during the cold nights. We even have thespians and the school band to provide entertainment for us when we’re bored. Our high school has unlimited resources and is bursting with talent from students and faculty. Unfortunately, it takes a signature from Barack Obama and a trip to the moon in order to use these resources. This leads to my question of the week: Why aren’t we using the incredible resources that our school provides?  One reason we can’t …

Holt senior is a DECA District 6 vice president.

“All of these (judged activities) were important, but studying for the test was the most difficult,” said Disney. Serving as an officer provides DECA members the opportunity to develop their leadership skills and professionalism that is essential for a successful career. As vice president, Disney will be responsible for connecting her district to the state DECA organization and other special projects at the state and district levels. Holt's DECA Holds Spring Fling

Event held Friday raised funds for the group.

Patch attended Holt High School's 12th annual Spring Fling on Friday, April 22 and shot some video of the fun.  Proceeds from this fundraiser go to the local scholarship fund and Holt DECA national qualifiers to help with expenses during the competition. DECA is an international association of high school and college students studying marketing, management, and entrepreneurship in business, finance, hospitality and marketing sales and service. The “Spring Fling” featured a Disney theme this year with games, prizes, egg hunt and themed raffle baskets.

Holt Deca Students Hold Successful Spring Fling

The Holt DECA students, with help from marketing students, National Honor Society and Student Council members, put on a wonderful event for area children.

Whiz Kids: Holt DECA students (DECA is an international organization of students studying marketing, management and entrepreneurship in business, finance, hospitality and marketing sales and service.) School: Wentzville Holt High School Accomplishment: The Spring Fling is DECA's main fundraiser for national competition and scholarships. This year's event, moved inside because of the stormy weather, was a smashing success. The students worked hard at ticket tables, manning booths and games and setting up Easter Egg hunts. Congratulations on a job well done! We'd like to give a special mention to two Lake Saint Louis DECA students, Kat Thompson and Stevie Pontello. DECA Holding Spring Fling

This Friday at Holt High School.

Holt High School DECA is sponsoring the 12th annual “Spring Fling” fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, April 22, at Soby Field at Holt High School. Proceeds from this fundraiser go to the local scholarship fund and Holt DECA national qualifiers to help with expenses during the competition. DECA is an international association of high school and college students studying marketing, management, and entrepreneurship in business, finance, hospitality and marketing sales and service. Wentzville DECA Students Excel

At 63rd Missouri DECA state competition.

Timberland and Holt High School marketing students joined 1,600 of their Missouri counterparts for the 63rd Missouri DECA State Career Development Conference at the Lodge of Four Seasons at the Lake of the Ozarks March 13-15.  A Wentzville School District record of 23 Holt students and 29 Timberland students qualified to attend the state competition by placing at the District level competition held in Hazelwood on Feb. 9. In addition, the Holt DECA Chapter was named District Chapter of the Year for the tenth consecutive year. Whiz Kid Katelyn LaPak

Local senior Katelyn LaPak wins at DECA competitions

Whiz Kid: Katelyn LaPak, age 17 School: Senior, Timberland High School Accomplishment: Katelyn, along with her Timberland High School DECA group, took first place in DECA District, and fourth place in DECA State competitions.  She will be advancing to the International Competition in Orlando, Florida April 29.  The group designed an internet marketing plan and redesigned a company website as part of the competition.  Katelyn also was part of “The Memory Project” at THS wherein art students painted portraits of children at an orphanage in Thailand.  “The Memory Project” connects art students with orphans around the world.
