Patch Needs Your Help: Help Us Raise Funds for the Salvation Army

The Wentzvile Patch is engaging in a friendly competition with fellow Patchers to help the Salvation Army ring in donations for people it serves in Wentzville and throughout the St. Charles and St. Louis area.

The holiday season is arguably the most giving time of year. However, it also is the busiest. Many of us give back by tossing our leftover grocery store cash and coins into our neighborhood Salvation Army red kettles. Now until Jan. 31, there is a way to do even more—with your own personal virtual red kettle. Eight Patch sites, including this one, are proud to feature their very own Online Red Kettles.  Click here to donate via the Wentzville Patch Online Red Kettle. So which community will come out on top in this friendly Patch-off? Still Time to Participate in Blood Drive

There's still time to get your Elvis on and donate blood at "Rock and Roll Up Your Sleeve" event.

There's still time to donate blood today and get your Elvis on. The police department and the fire department are working together to sponsor a Red Cross blood drive today, Jan. 12 at the Lake Saint Louis Civic Center. You can donate blood between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. and help out during a time of the year when donations are slow because of the cold weather. According to an American Red Cross news release, "just one donation has the potential to save up to three lives. You can make a difference." Donors will receive an Elvis-themed t-shirt and be entered into a drawing for two trips:

Ten Ways to Give Back to the Community this Holiday Season

Volunteer opportunities abound, and what better time of year to get involved?

'Tis the season . . . to give. Although we often find ourselves rushed and stressed out this time of year, what better time to slow down and think about helping someone else? Even if you can't spare the hours right now, consider making the commitment to help in 2011. Here are some interesting ideas for giving back to the community: Keep in mind that many volunteer programs require an application process and/or background checks. Remember, you are needed!
