You've had your first cup of coffee; now relax with the second and find out what's up for the day in Lake Saint Louis.
Good morning, Lake Saint Louis! Have you voted for the best soup in St. Charles County yet? I was thrilled to see Denny's come up in the nominations yesterday. Since we started doing these Chowdown Showdowns, I've been hoping to see one of our Lake Saint Louis eateries mentioned. Here in Lake Saint Louis, we may not have a lot of restaurants, but we have an interesting variety. My family's personal favorite is Max & Erma's at The Meadows. I'm trying to decide whether to have my birthday dinner at BC's Kitchen or at Donatelli's next month. You've had your first cup of coffee; now relax with the second and find out what's up for the day in Lake Saint Louis.
Good morning, Lake Saint Louis! So, the vote for St. Charles' best spaghetti is in, and Francesco's in St Peters won with 56 percent of the vote. I'll have to try it out—I've never heard of Francesco's, but I'm always willing to give new places a try. I have to admit that I'm disappointed that we didn't get any nominations for Donatelli's—Lake Saint Louis' hometown Italian restaurant. If you wondered why the police blotter didn't post at 6 a.m., here's the link to Wednesday's blotter. We're trying to adjust our posting date to a change made by the department of the day they release the data. Wentzville School District has announced their Teachers of the Year for each of the schools, and we posted the complete list earlier today. …

Despite a last-minute change of venue, the inaugural Root Ball was a great success.
In an effort to promote its educational outreach program, the Tree Board of Lake St. Louis chose to commemorate ten years as a Tree City USA with a party on the plaza of The Meadows that would include fundraising activities such as a raffle and a live auction. Local businesses donated the items to be auctioned and local dignitaries assisted by selling raffle tickets. The Gala event was originally scheduled to take place under the stars in the Clock Tower Plaza of the Meadows but threatening clouds and cooler temps forced the party indoors. Barb and Don Baker of Donatelli’s Bistro offered the intimate setting of their wine cellar to host the Gala, and kept the guests warm and dry to enjoy the evening. The city arborist, Lorri Grueber, and …

Great video, Richard! And it was a great day. I would have been happy just to serve cake and enjoy the wonderful food, but winning the 50/50 was fantastic. I was able to adopt two families from the Wentzville School District's holiday program, and Wentzville Editor Maggie Rotermund and I sure had fun shopping for them!   more ›
