Electronic Poll Books Purchased for Elections in St. Charles County

St. Charles County Council approved purchase of the 250 Apple iPad poll books for $326,250.

Voters will no longer sign paper poll books in St. Charles County on election day. The St. Charles County Council in December approved the purchase of 250 electronic Apple iPad poll books, which poll workers will use to check in voters on election day, according to a story in the St. Charles Suburban Journals.  St. Charles County expects to save more than $1 million over 10 years. The paper books cost $25,000 per election to print. Read more about where the funding for these iPads comes from here.

General Election Day Quick Facts: Find Out Where and When to Vote

Nov. 6, 2012 is General Election Day across the United States. Here's some things you need to know before you hit the polls.

Today is the day. The General Ellection will take place today in Wentzville and Lake Saint Louis, Missouri and all over the United States.  Polling places around the city will open bright and early at 6 a.m. for a day full of voting in the election. The race to the white house, a Missouri senate seat and other positions will be filled today.  Here are some things you should probably know before you hit the polls. Did You Vote Today? Tell Us Why and Show Us Your 'I Voted' Sticker

Political Poll: Does Akin or McCaskill Have Your Vote

If the election were held today, which Missouri Senate candidate would you vote for?

A week from today the election season will all be over.  All the ads, yard signs and campaigning will be done. In Missouri, one of the most contested, and publicized races, will be finished. Voters will finally get to decide who takes one of Missouri's two seats in the United States Senate. Incumbent Claire McCaskill, a Democrat, is battling with Republican Todd Akin in a tight race. Patch readers, however, haven't seen the race as that close.  Twice readers have been asked who they favored in the race and both times Akin came out on top. In the first poll, Akin topped McCaskill with 71 percent of the votes (88 total). McCaskill picked up only 35 votes (28 percent). Political Poll: McCaskill or Akin, Who Has Your Vote?

If the election were held today, which Missouri Senate candidate would you vote for?

One month from today the election season will be over.  In four weeks it will be Nov. 6 and voters will finally get to have their voice heard. Voters in Missouri will get a chance to fill a seat in the United States Senate. In a contentious battle, one that has garnered national attention, incumbent Democrat Claire McCaskill and Republican challenger Todd Akin are battling for one of Missouri's two Senate seats.  The last time we asked this question, Akin topped McCaskill by a good margin. With 71 percent of the votes (88 total), Akin was the winner in our poll. McCaskill only picked up 35 votes (28 percent). The votes only tell part of the story. Political Poll: Akin or McCaskill, Who Has Your Vote?

If the election were held today, which Missouri Senate candidate would you vote for?

We are now eight weeks—56 days—from Nov. 6 when the general election will take place.  Most of the attention has focused on the race to the White House, but there are other races voters will be deciding. A big one in Missouri? The battle between incumbent Democrat Claire McCaskill and Republican challenger Todd Akin for one of Missouri's two Senate seats.  Heading into the election, we're going to take the temperature of the St. Charles County electorate.
