Teen Who Led Police on High-Speed Chase: 'I Didn't Want to Miss Girlfriend's Prom'

Wentzville Police said Daniel Buck led them on a chase reaching speeds up to 100 mph on dark, curvy roads and into oncoming traffic lanes.

A 19-year-old motorist who led Wentzville Police on a car chase reaching speeds up to 100 mph, driving into oncoming lanes on dark, curvy roads told officers he fled because he wanted to take his girlfriend to prom on Saturday and didn’t want to spend the night in jail. Daniel Buck, 19, of the 200 block of Church Street in O’Fallon, was charged with resisting arrest by fleeing and creating a substantial risk of injury or death. Wentzville Police said an officer spotted Buck Saturday near McHugh Road and Highway 61 driving with license plates registered to another vehicle. Driver Hits Three Tractor Trailers in Parking Lot and Leaves, Police Say

The man hit the trucks in the Travel Centers parking lot in Foristell. Missouri Highway Patrol trooper located the driver in a rest area west of Wright City.

An out-of-state man collided with three commercial trucks in the Travel Centers of America parking lot in Foristell and left the scene, police said. Michael Bennett, 54, of Stockbridge, GA, hit three trucks in the parking lot at about 6:44 p.m. Feb. 13, and a 2011 Freightliner received more than $1,000 in damages, according to Foristell Police. He then left the parking lot and went west on Interstate 70, police said. A Missouri Highway Patrol trooper located Bennett at the rest area west of Wright City and took him back to the Travel Centers parking lot. Bennett told officers, “I know I should have stayed,” according a to a court document. Police said his blood-alcohol level at the time of the accident was 0.11 percent. The legal limit is …
