Vote Now: Help Name the Top GAC Boys Soccer Player for the 2012 Season

Vote for the fan's choice for the top boys soccer player in the GAC.

The 2012 boys soccer season is in the books for all the Gateway Athletic Conference teams, but it's time to take a look back. Yes, it's time for another edition of the St. Charles County Athlete of the Week fan poll. Except this week has a twist. Instead of looking at the last week, we're looking at the entire season.  Tell us in the poll below: Who was the top GAC boys soccer player in 2012? Jordan Stephens—Francis Howell: Francis Howell's Jordan Stephens was the top point getter in all of the GAC. Stephens was led the GAC South, all of the GAC with his 67 points. Francis Howell Central's Derrick Puni wins the fan's vote for GAC player of the year.

Francis Howell Central fans know how to back their athletes.  For the second week in a row our fan's choice poll for the GAC basketball player of the year goes to a Spartan. Joining Sharese Jones as the most popular basketball player in the GAC is Derrick Puni. Vote Now: Choose the Top Boys Basketball Player in the GAC

Show your school spirit by voting for your school's Patch Athlete of the Week!

At the end of the recent basketball season the GAC North and the GAC South named first-team all conference for boys and girls basketball.  Ten players from the teams all around were chosen to be first-team all conference. We know want to know who you think is the best of the best.  This week, we'll look at the boys.  The candidates are: George Cater—Fort Zumwalt South: Cater led the Bulldogs in scoring with 13.8 points per game, including a team-high 65 made 3-pointers.  Chaz Glotta—Fort Zumwalt North: Glotta was the top scorer for North with an average of 19.3 points per contest.  Josh Ross—Fort Zumwalt East: Ross scored a team-high 15.9 points per game and added a team-best 2.41 assists per game for the Lions. Vote Now For St. Charles County Athlete of the Week

Show your school spirit by voting for your school's Patch Athlete of the Week!

Who is St. Charles County's favorite athlete?  Be heard by picking our Patch Athlete of the Week for the week ending Feb. 5. Vote for one of the following (or write in your own candidate in the comments): Wentzville Holt High School: Cory Kettler, senior forward on the ice hockey team. Kettler scored two goals in Holt's playoff opener, a 5-1 win over Northwest at the Affton Ice Arena. Both of Kettler's two goals came in the third period. He also added two assists, including one on a short-handed goal in the first period to open up the scoring.  St. Dominic High School: Emmett Wilmes, junior center on the boys basketball team. High School Boys Basketball GAC Standings

Check out your team's standings for the week of Jan. 22.

Boys Basketball: Gateway Athletic Conference North Duchesne:  Duchesne improved to 12-7 overall after a win against St. Charles West on Friday. Duchesne won 56-64. St. Charles:  Pirates are 9-10 and are on a five game losing streak. The team lost to Howell Central on Friday, 48-59. Fort Zumwalt North: The team beat Hazelwood East on Tuesday but lost to Parkway North and Pattonville at Zumwalt North on Wednesday and Friday. The team is 9-9 on the season.  Fort Zumwalt East: The Lions lost to Fort Zumwalt South on Sunday, 48-62. The team is 6-13 on the season. Playoff Chaos: Class 5, District 4 Postseason Field Still Unclear With Two Weeks Left

Five teams are fighting for two playoff spots and no team is the clear frontrunner.

The Missouri high school football playoff system has plenty of detractors.  After a full season of games, the only ones that really matter are the District games at the end of the season. Truly dominant teams can make the playoff teams a foregone conclusion. There are some Districts where the games are less than exciting.  The Class 5, District 4 is not one of those District.  The massive 5-team District is heading into its third week of high-intensity big games. Fort Zumwalt North, Fort Zumwalt East, Fort Zumwalt South, Wentzville Holt and Timberland are all battling for two playoff spots.  Heading into Week 9 the playoff picture in the District is still as murky as ever. Friday Night Spotlight: Wentzville's Week 6 Action

Holt, Timberland prepare for another week of football.

Let's take a look at who will be hitting the field tonight. It's homecoming for Holt High School. The Indians will take the field at 7 p.m. tonight. Holt is looking to rebound from last week's loss. Fort Zumwalt West (3-2) defeated Holt (1-4) 42-7. Timberland is 1-4 on the season and has lost four in a row. The Wolves sustained a 35-17 loss to Parkway North in Week 4 and was defeated 34-21 by Francis Howell Central in its homecoming game last week.
