Patch readers ALWAYS are welcome to submit photos or videos of interesting community people, places and happenings. However, we're pleased to introduce a formal spot on this news site to do just that: Your Neighborhood Gallery. Please load your photos and/or videos for others to enjoy. Perhaps it's a favorite sunset, building, sports team, community event, meeting or view from your home or vehicle. Whatever you believe represents some component of Wentzville or Lake Saint Louis, you can add it here. Thanks!

What better place to be on a steamy Fourth of July than on the beach at Jefferson Point?
The Lake Saint Louis Water Ski Club held their annual Fourth of July Ski Show on Wednesday. A huge crowd watched from under a garden of pop-up tents as skiers from beginning knee-boarders to elegant swivel skiers to a signature three-tiered pyramid team performed in the waters off Jefferson Point. The Ski Club is associated with the Lake Saint Louis Community Association. The club fields a competitive ski team called the Arch Rivals.

Fireworks will be popping on the Fourth, but where exactly is the best place to watch them?
The Fourth of July means a lot of different things to a lot of people. It's the birthday of the old U S of A, it's a day off work, it's a day to barbecue and, of course, it's a day for fireworks. When the sun goes down, the real show begins. Fireworks and the Fourth are a tradition that goes together like peanut butter and jelly. While firework shows around the area are being called off because of fire concerns, St. Charles County has made it through relatively unscathed. St. Charles, O'Fallon, Wentzville and Lake Saint Louis all have plans to light up the night sky during the Fourth. Growing up, I spent most of my Independence Days visiting my grandparents in Arkansas. My grandpa would grill up some delicious ribs and then we'd hit the…

With the Fourth of July holiday coming up, local fire and police officials remind residents that the drought-like conditions and fireworks don’t mix.
Local emergency personnel are urging residents to be aware of the possible increase in fire and medical emergencies due the dry conditions and heat in St. Charles County. Temperatures have lingered in the 100s for days, and with the Fourth of July holiday coming up, fire and police officials warn that the drought-like conditions and fireworks don’t mix. On Monday afternoon, several emergency workers gathered at the St. Charles County Sheriff’s Office to discuss the potential dangers. Lake Saint Louis Police will confiscate illegal fireworks as contraband.
(The following press released was issued by the Lake Saint Louis Police Department.) The Lake Saint Louis Police Department reminds residents that except for authorized professional pyrotechnics displays conducted under the supervision of the police and fire departments, fireworks are prohibited within the city limits. Due to the heat and drought conditions the agency will be especially proactive in its response to violators. “It only takes one spark to start a fire,” said Chief Michael Force. “Playing with sparklers in the back yard may seem innocent enough, but it puts the community and its residents at risk. It’s our duty to enforce the ordinance and citizen cooperation is critical to ensure public safety.” Lake Saint Louis Police …

Missouri native David Nail headlines "Country Day" on July 3, while Vertical Horizon rocks it out July 4.
Nationally known musical performers, a parade with two marching bands, spectacular fireworks, marvelous mutts and plenty of carnival rides and food highlight the O’Fallon Heritage and Freedom Fest July 2-4 at the Ozzie Smith Sports Complex. The free festival, in its 32nd year, keeps growing and improving, particularly because of the national acts and the fireworks. “We have an absolutely amazing lineup this year, and I think we’re going to have a really great crowd because of it,” said Festival Coordinator Megan Steinmann. “They’re all really great entertainers, and they’re all relevant. A lot of people are really excited that they can come out and see bands that they hear on the radio every day, and they don’t have to pay anything for it…
