The Deep Freeze: Wentzville/Lake Saint Louis Area Plunges to Single-Digit Temps Tonight

The National Weather Service expects tonight's frigid temperatures to plummet to a low of six degrees. Please bring your pets inside!

Better put away those shorts and flip-flops! Less than a week after 60-degree weather had residents thinking about yard work and lawn furniture, Wentzville and the Greater St. Louis area are expected to experience the coldest temperatures yet this year in the overnight hours. Thawing and Refreezing Sends Trash Truck into Ditch

A Christian Environmental Services truck on its rounds Friday was the victim of thawing and refreezing on the roads.

The driver of this Christian Environmental Services truck finished emptying the cans at the end of LSL Patch Editor Tamara Duncan's driveway Friday afternoon and started down to the last house on the lane. The thawing-and-refreezing cycle had left the lane icy, though, and the truck slid to right and both wheels ended up in the ditch. Here's how they got the truck back on firm ground.
