Two local troops visited firefighters at Wentzville Fire Station #4 in O'Fallon.
Girl Scouts around the area celebrated National Cookie Day on February 8 by sharing cookies and milk with firefighters. Wentzville Fire Station #4 on Orf Road in O'Fallon hosted two groups of scouts on Friday night. Brownie Troop #49, under the leadership of Sarah Longwell, visited the station at 5 p.m. They were joined by Daisy Troop #4902, under the leadership of Annie Tobin-Bartlow, at 5:30 p.m. The Brownie troop shared their experiences as Brownie scouts with the younger Daisies, who will be bridging to Brownies this spring. The event took an unusual turn when the fire station received a call and the firefighters had to dash to their trucks. It's that time of year. Girl Scout Cookie sales begin Jan. 12, 2013, and a new cookie has been added to this year's lineup. The Mango Creme, a vanilla and coconut sandwich cookie with a mango-flavored creme filling, joins this year's offering of Thin Mints, Caramel deLites, Shortbreads, Peanut Butter Patties, Peanut Butter Sandwiches, Lemonades and Thanks-a-Lots. Cookies cost $3.50 per package. Orders will be taken from Jan. 12 until Feb. 3, and cookies will be delivered beginning Feb. 27. Booths will be set up between Feb. 27 and March 17 in locations around the Metro area. Funds are used by GSEM for programs for girls, for adult volunteer training and for maintaining three local Girl Scout camps. Troops use their funds for everything …

The Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri will kick off their annual cookie drive this Saturday. On Cookie Go! Day, as the kickoff is called, girls will begin taking orders and raising money to benefit Girl Scouts. The cookies will come in the same seven flavors as last year: Thanks-A-Lot, Lemonades, Shout Out!, Peanut Butter Sandwich, Peanut Butter Patties, Thin Mints and Caramel deLites. Girl Scouts from troops across eastern Missouri, from St. Louis to north in Putnam Country to south in Ste. Genevieve, will begin selling cookies on Saturday, Jan. 21 at $3.50 per package.
