Wentzville's newest hotel may begin hiring in August.
Ground was broken in December 2012 for Wentzville's new 90-room hotel, the Fairfield Inn & Suites. Midas Hospitality, LLC, is the owner and manager of the hotel. Executive Vice President Rob Willard told Patch that the four-story hotel will have an indoor swimming pool, guest laundry and a meeting space for approximately 50 people. The new hotel will have a sharp, contemporary look with outside surfaces of block and steel. "I am very excited to be part of the group who is bringing this quality lodging project to the City of Wentzville. Height regulations approved by the city's board of adjustment.
A new hotel in Wentzville is in the beginning stages of planning and making its way through the city's governing boards. Fairfield Inn and Suites, a hotel chain owned by Marriott, is looking to build a new hotel near the intersection of West Pearce Boulevard and Wentville Parkway. The new hotel would stand four-stories tall—a height that was approved by the Wentzville Board of Adjustment at its Feb. 9 meeting—and be the first Generation 5 prototype of the hotel chain in the country, according to city documents. The Generation 5 prototype is the company's attempt to appeal to modern travelers and includes new contemporary aesthetics to its traditoinal look. Councilman Joe Cronin said he is struggling with bill's effect on local jobs and economy.
A St. Charles County councilman is drafting a new smoking ban ordinance, but he doesn’t expect to introduce the legislation for another month. “One of the things causing me consternation is how to try to figure out how to get this ordinance done without causing job loss in St. Charles County,” said Joe Cronin, R-District 1, of St. Paul. “If the casino exemption doesn’t get put in, and folks are allowed to gamble across the river in St. Louis County and smoke but not in our county, the estimated job loss is 320 jobs in downtown St. Charles,” he said.
