UPDATE: Blanchette Bridge Eastbound Lane Closure Extension Cancelled

MoDOT does not expect any additional traffic impacts in the eastbound direction during rush hour.

The following information is from a MoDOT news release. Update: MoDOT I-70 eastbound lane closure extension cancelled. MoDOT  will continue to have the normal lane closure eastbound I-70 starting half way across the bridge. The westbound I-70 left lane closure starts at Earth City to the bridge. This left lane closed in each direction is scheduled to continue through Oct. 9. The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) continues work on the Blanchette Bridge with an extended eastbound lane closure on Monday afternoon. One lane in each direction has been closed for repairs on I-70 at the St. Louis end of the Blanchette Missouri River Bridge since Friday, Sept. 14.  The eastbound lane closure currently starts about half way across the …

UPDATE: 2 Escaped Prisoners Caught, One Still at Large

Authorities are asking for residents to be watchful for a blue Crown Victoria police car with two males and one female.

UPDATE: Two of the escaped prisoners have reportedly been caught in Howard County. Original story: KMOX.com reported at 8:39 this morning that three escaped prisoners may be headed toward St. Louis on Interstate 70, which would take them through the Wentzville area. The prisoners escaped from police in Pettis County, west of Columbia, taking a patrol car and weapons. The suspects are two white males and a white female, driving a blue Ford Crown Victoria with police markings. Please call authorities if you see the vehicle in the area.

Eastbound I-70 Lanes to Close Saturday Night

Several ramps in the area will also be closed.

(The Missouri Department of Transportation has issued the following press release.) The Missouri Department of Transportation will close four of the five eastbound Interstate 70 lanes Saturday night, July 21, weather permitting. It will reduce eastbound I-70 to just one lane open. Crews will remove and replace overhead signs on eastbound I-70 and redo some striping. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes.                      The multiple lane closures will occur between Mid Rivers Mall Drive and Route 370 from 9 p.m. Saturday, July 21 until 10 a.m. Sunday, July 22. Wentzville Board Approves I-70 Intergovernmental Study

Board members said they wanted to ensure the study would be monitored for progress.

The Wentzville Board of Aldermen agreed at their Wednesday agreed to contribute $50,000 to a three-year study of I-70 in a partnership with other St. Charles County municipalities. The Federal Highway Administration will be in charge of the study of the I-70 corridor, extending from I-270 in St. Louis County, across the Blanchette Bridge and west to near Lake Saint Louis. Besides Wentzville, St. Peters and O’Fallon would also contribute $50,000. Lake Saint Louis would provide $25,000 and St. Charles County $100,000. The study’s goal is to improve traffic conditions and mobility along the stretch of highway. Traffic Alert: Eastbound Lane Closures on I-70 This Week

Overnight crews will be working on Hwy. K bridge repairs.

The Missouri Department of Transportation will have two lanes closed on eastbound Interstate 70 over Route K from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday, May 2 and Thursday, May 3.  Crews will be working overnight on some bridge repairs.  Motorists are advised to avoid eastbound I-70 if possible to minimize delays.

State Senate Panel Discusses Options for I-70 Toll

Lawmakers, MoDot to hold forum on toll issue Thursday at Warrenton High School.

A variety of funding options emerged Wednesday during the Senate Transportation Committee's discussions on how to pay for the Interstate 70 reconstruction using tolls, according to a report in the Columbia Missourian.  A proposed toll has garnered serious backlash from Missouri residents and local politicians alike, and would pay for reconstructing a 200 mile stretch of the highway between Independence and Wentzville. The project, if approved, is estimated to cost between $2 billion and $4 billion. According to an article in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, St. Charles County Executive Steve Ehlmann, through a representative, urged the committee to end the tolled section of I-70 west of Wentzville and possibly outside the county altogether. …

Two Westbound I-70 Lanes to Close Tonight, Tuesday

MoDOT will close the lanes at the I-70 at the I-270 interchange Nov. 28-29.

The Missouri Department of Transportation will close two lanes of westbound Interstate 70 at the Interstate 270 interchange tonight and tomorrow evenings, weather permitting. Crews will close two of the three lanes and the exit ramp from westbound I-70 to northbound and southbound I-270 from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. tonight and Tuesday. Crews are installing a sign truss at the interchange. This work is part of a project to add a permanent lane on the westbound I-70 exit ramps to northbound and southbound I-270 as part of the year-long closure of the westbound I-70 Blanchette Bridge scheduled to begin in 2012.

MoDOT Postpones Closure of the Blanchette Bridge

Crews continue to work on emergency projects.

The Missouri Department of Transportation has again postponed lane closures on Interstate 70 at the Blanchette Bridge for the bridge's annual safety inspection until further notice. Crews are continuing short notice repair work on area bridges. More information will be released when it becomes available.

Update: MoDOT Postpones Closure of the Blanchette Bridge

Bridge crews were needed on short notice for another project.

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has postponed this week's lane closures on Interstate 70 at the Blanchette Bridge for the bridge's annual safety inspection until Monday. The inspection was postponed because crews were needed for a short notice bridge repair. Crews will close two lanes on westbound I-70 weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. from Monday until Thursday, Aug. 4. Crews will close the two right lanes and then move to the two left lanes as they complete inspection work. Three lanes will be open at all times. After the westbound bridge has been inspected, crews will move to the eastbound bridge, working weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. from Monday, Aug. 8 until Thursday, Aug. 11.
