Man Taken to Hospital After Tractor Trailer Flat Tire Causes Accident Near Hwy. K

Tractor trailer flat tire causes accident on Highway 40 in O'Fallon.

A 36-year-old Wentzville man was taken to a nearby hospital Thursday after he was involved in a two-car accident with a tractor trailer near the intersection of Highway 40 and Highway K. Clyde Lindemann was driving eastbound on Hwy. 40 when a nearby tractor trailer blew a tire. The debris from the blow out travelled into Lindemann's lane, which forced him to travel off the right side of the road, back onto the highway where it struck the trailer before traveling off the right side of the road again. Lindemann's car then overturned. He was taken to Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur by St. Charles County ambulance.  No one else was injured in the incident. The accident backed up traffic for about an hour.

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will raise the speed limit on a section of Route 40/61 in St. Charles County from 60 to 65 mph.  The department will raise the limit on the route from Route K to Interstate 70, to more closely match speed limits on Interstate 70 in St. Charles County.
