After two aldermen abstained from the vote to grant Rocktoberfest a liquor license, city staffers brought out a copy of Robert's Rules of Order to settle the issue.
Two events with similar names were at the center of a controversy at the Lake Saint Louis board of aldermen meeting Monday night. The first, Oktoberfest, is a fundraiser for the Lake Saint Louis Ambassadors, a Community Association organization that is dedicated to promoting and improving the city. Last year's one-day festival was so successful, the organizers made it a two-day event for 2012 and moved it from its original home at The Meadows to the Lowe's parking lot at the Shoppes of Hawk Ridge. Oktoberfest will be held Oct. 6 and 7. The second, Rocktoberfest, is the brainchild of Greg Jones, who has spearheaded many charity events for Lake Saint Louis and the Lake Saint Louis Pleasure Boating Club. Jones is working with two foundations …

The severe heat and drought conditions have prompted some cities to cancel or postpone, but Lake Saint Louis and Wentzville displays will go on as planned.
Wentzville Parks Director Mary Jo Dessieux told Wentzville Patch that the fireworks display planned as part of the city's Fourth of July observance will go on as planned. "We always have fire trucks standing by," Dessieux said. The fireworks cap off the city's day-long celebration, which includes a parade, free swimming, live music and other activities at Progress Park. Lake Saint Louis Ambassadors President Karen Little told Patch that Lake Saint Louis' display would also continue as planned. "I have absolute respect for a city's concern for the safety of their citizens," Little said. "We're in better shape than most, because we shoot the fireworks out over the lake." STLToday reported that fireworks displays have been canceled in …

The event, held March 15 at the Community Association, was designed to give residents a glimpse of handful of candidates vying for three two-year terms and one one-year term on the city’s governing board. Candidates gave a brief introduction and then answered questions that audience members submitted beforehand. The typical questions about each candidate's qualifications, about taxes and funding street repairs were asked and answered, one by one. But the question about dissolving the C.A. and having the city take over C.A. amenities brought some …

Candidates Larry DeGroodt (who had a death in the family) and Eric Oman were not present. Lake Saint Louis Patch will be bringing you more from Meet the Candidates Night. This charity builds houses for combat veterans who have lost multiple major body parts. These 3 pompos arogant self absorbed aldermen are a disgrace to our fair city. Last month these 3 voted to violate & disreguard the State Constitution. They should be ashamed of themselves but I bet they are not!   more ›
