Police: Man Nabbed For Making Meth Five Months After Lab Explosion Burned Woman

In September, a meth lab exploded in a barn on the man's property near Wentzille, injuring a woman.

A St. Charles County man faces a second methamphetamine charge about five months after a meth lab exploded on his property near Wentzville, burning a woman and setting fire to his barn. Dale Lenze Sr., 53, was charged Jan. 31 with attempt to manufacture a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. A St. Charles County Sheriff’s deputy accompanied a Social Services employee to check on the welfare of children living in a home in the 2800 block of Essex Street in St. Charles County near St. Charles. Meth Lab Explodes, Severely Burns Woman, Ignites Barn

Two men were charged with making meth and first-degree arson for the fire.

A meth lab exploded Monday, severely burning a woman and setting fire to a barn in the 2400 block of Branch Lane in St. Charles County southwest of Wentzville. Two men face arson and drug charges in the incident. Dale A. Lenze, 53, the landowner, and Kyle W. Green, 24, each was charged Tuesday with first-degree arson and manufacturing methamphetamine. Lenze also was charged with possessing meth. Lenze told St. Charles County Drug Task Force detectives that Green told him a one-pot meth lab “went bad” during the meth-making process and exploded at about 12:30 p.m. Monday, severely burning a woman’s legs and feet. Lenze told detectives he saw the fire in the upper portion of the barn and heard the woman “screaming in agonizing pain.” Green …

Task Force Busts Mobile Meth-Making Couple in St. Charles

An Elsberry man told the St. Charles County Drug Task Force detectives he often makes his own meth in his car.

A couple was charged Thursday in St. Charles for making methamphetamine in the man’s car. Mark A. Smith, 26, of Elsberry, and Mary Melling, 24, of Moscow Mills, face charges of manufacturing and possessing meth. After a traffic stop at 2702 Droste Road in St. Charles Nov. 16, St. Charles County Drug Task Force detectives searched Smith’s car and found a baggie with meth residue and ingredients used to make meth, according to court documents. Detectives said in a report that Smith admitted to buying pseudoephedrine and using it to make meth. Smith said he often makes meth in his car. He said he made the drug himself to save money. St. Charles County Busts Lake Saint Louis Meth Lab

A man is charged with manufacturing meth and endangering three children.

A man is being charged with operating a methamphetamine lab in a Lake Saint Louis home. Robert R. Pollock, 54, is charged with manufacturing meth at a home in the 100 block of View Point Lane in Lake Saint Louis and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Three juveniles age 15 or under also live at the house. A St. Charles County Sheriff’s Department detective investigating a pseudoephedrine supplier found Pollock at the residence. According to a sheriff’s department report, the detective smelled a strong chemical odor coming from the garage, and Pollock acknowledged making meth at the residence. In a consent search, the detective found a lab in the garage and along with chemicals needed to cook meth, he said in the report.
