National Equestrian Center Lake Saint Louis receives March Business Spotlight Award from the St. Charles County Economic Development Roundtable.
The St. Charles County Economic Development Roundtable presented its Business Spotlight Award to a Lake Saint Louis-based business for “being a popular tourism destination annually attracting an estimated 100,000 visitors to regional and national equestrian and canine competitions and other special events,” the organization said in a press release. “The National Equestrian Center Lake Saint Louis is one of the best kept tourism secrets in St. Charles County,” said Eric Sterman, assistant city administrator for the City of Lake Saint Louis. The National Equestrian Center Lake Saint Louis (NEC), located at 6880 Lake Saint Louis Blvd., received the award for the month of March. NEC has been in business in Lake Saint Louis for 13 years. Horse and riders from all over the U.S. and Canada competed in Week II of the hunter/jumper show series at the National Equestrian Center.
The National Equestrian Center was bustling with activity this past weekend. The parking lots were filled with horse trailers and trucks from states as far away as Nebraska, Wisconsin, Louisiana, Texas — and even from Canada. The reason for the activity was Week II of the Winter Festival Horse Show, a competition for horses and riders that runs until April and gives $135,000 in prize money in three divisions, plus $10,000 in high-point bonuses over its 7-weekend run. The first show was held at the beginning of December. The Winter Festival is managed by Queenie Productions, LLC.
