Not Just One, But Two Indoor Gun Ranges in Wentzville's Future

The Board of Aldermen approved a site plan and rezoning to allow Heartland Guns and Ammo to add an indoor shooting range.

On Nov. 14, Wentzville Patch reported that the former Burger King site on Veterans Memorial Drive and Pic Parkway was going through the rezoning and approval process for Eagle Eye U.S.A. to convert the building to a gun shop and indoor shooting range. At last week's Board of Aldermen meeting, both that project and another project for an expansion of Heartland Guns and Ammo were approved, potentially giving the Wentzville area its choice of two indoor shooting ranges. Heartland plans to construct a 1,127 square-foot addition to its existing building on Luetkenhaus Boulevard for a shooting range. The owners worked with city officials to meet city standards for parking spaces and noise abatement. READ MORE: Gun Shop, Indoor Shooting Range …

This is good news. I think the closest INDOOR range is in St. Peters. I think everyone would like me spending my money in Wentzville instead of St. Peters. Hopefully PATCH will keep us updated when construction is completed and the range is open.   more ›

Gun Shop, Indoor Shooting Range Planned for Old Burger King Site

City staff noted that the former fast-food restaurant has fallen into disrepair.

The Wentzville Board of Aldermen will hold a public hearing at its regular meeting Wednesday night, Nov. 13, for approval of a redevelopment of the old Burger King property on Veterans Memorial Parkway and Pic Parkway. The applicant, Thomas Schlansker of Wentzville, wants to remodel the building for use as a gun shop and indoor shooting range, which will require approval of a 4,854 square foot addition to the existing building. With potential noise being an issue, city staff noted in its recommendation to the board that no residences are located closer than 1,350 feet to the proposed shooting range. The closest structure is the former U.S. Fidelis building now occupied by Roberts Marketing Group.

Public Hearing Tonight for New Car Credit City in Wentzville

The Wentzville Board of Aldermen meeting will include a public hearing and a vote on a conditional use permit for the used car lot.

At Wednesday night's regular meeting of the Wentzville Board of Aldermen, a public hearing will be held for a conditional use permit for a Car Credit City used car lot. The business would be located at 1462 South Service Road and is located about 400 feet east of Swantnerville Drive. The last business to be located at the address was Norm's Pub. Car Credit City was established in 2005 and currently has five locations. The Wentzville location would be the company's first in St. Charles County. They offer in-house credit approval and same-day loan financing. The company plans to make improvements to the property by overlaying the existing asphalt, refurbishing the existing Norm's sign and adding concrete bollards and security gates.

What Should Go Here: Corner of Wentzville Parkway and Hwy. 61

Occasionally we highlight a vacant commercial space and ask: What business would you like to see move into this area?

We want Wentzville Patch to be a place where you can not only find out what's going on around town, but a place where you can share your thoughts and ideas with neighbors. Our newest feature—Visions for Vacancies—aims to help residents take an active role in planning and building their community. Each week, we'll highlight a vacant commercial space and ask what you would like to see move into this area? If you know of an area you'd like to see highlighted, tell us in the comments. This week, we are taking a look at a large lot on the northwest corner of Wentzville Parkway and Hwy. 61. It's across the street from the Lindenwood Ice Arena and right next door to the QuikTrip. Right now, the only thing there is an abandoned farmhouse and …

New Lake Saint Louis Goodwill Store Set to Open

The new store is located at 913 Robert Raymond Drive in the Shoppes at Hawk Ridge.

MERS Goodwill was in the final stages of set-up for its opening day when Wentzville Patch visited Wednesday morning. The store's ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 8:45 a.m., and grand opening festivities will continue through Saturday. Store Manager Tori Basile expects the Lake Saint Louis location to be a "giving" store, with more donations coming in than can be sold at the site. "We're going to put out the best of the best," she said. Extra donations will be sent out to other local MERS Goodwill locations. The Hawk Ridge store, in the south end of the complex near Lowe's, features a drive-through bay. As cars drive up, a sensor alerts staff inside and the donations are brought inside and sorted. Clothing with holes or rips are …

Board Considers Rezoning for New Independent Living Development

The new development, Twin Oaks At Stone Ridge, will include land for a future senior center in Wentzville.

A new independent living development adjacent to Twin Oaks Senior Living Campus at Heritage Pointe would also offer a location for a senior center if approved. At last week's Wentzville board of aldermen meeting, the board gave a first reading to a bill allowing the rezoning of an 8-acre parcel on Santa Elena Drive, north of Wentzville Parkway. The site is currently zoned R-3B, multi-family residential. The developers are asking for a rezoning to PD-R, Planned Development Residential. A pedestrian walkway will connect the two developments, and tenants of the new development would be able to use the dining room at Twin Oaks at Heritage Point.
