Holt Senior Athletes to Play College Football—Find Out Where

Wentzville School District Seniors Sign National Letters of Intent

Timberland's John Hummel will be playing football for Princeton; D.J. Hickey will play baseball for Jefferson College.

John Hummel Timberland High School senior John Hummel has committed to play Ivy League football for the Tigers of Princeton University in Princeton, NJ. With his mother Kelly and father John by his side, Hummel signed his National Letter of Intent today at Timberland High School. “It’s the number one school in the country, and my parents have always taught me that education comes first before athletics,” said the tight end/defensive end. “With the opportunity to play Division I football combined with the best education available in the country, we decided that it was the way to go.” Hummel is a true student-athlete, and maintains a 4.0 GPA and has scored a 30 on the ACT. Holt Wins Eric Lewis Wrestling Invitational

Wentzville Holt claims first-place team honors, with St. Charles West, McCluer North, Whitfield, and Ladue rounding out top five.

One of the area's best annual high school wrestling tournaments took over MICDS High School last weekend, as the 47th Annual Eric Lewis Invitational went off with non-stop action featuring many of the best schoolboy grapplers from all over the area. Some of the area's best teams also appeared, with state title contenders St. Charles West, McCluer North, and Whitfield all making strong showings at one of the season's last great tune-up tournaments before districts begin in two weeks. The dominant team of the weekend though, was Wentzville Holt, which had seven wrestlers advance to the finals in their respective weight classes, with five of them winning the individual championship, and a total of 11 of their 14 wrestlers competing at the …

Patch, Westplex Sports Network to Partner on Sports Coverage

Mike Kromer and Rob Russell of Westplex Sports Network plan to offer live-streaming play-by-play coverage of high school basketball games.

Patch plans to partner with the Westplex Sports Network to cover local high school sports over the next few months.  Westplex Sports Network is a website run by Mike Kromer and Rob Russell that covers local high school sports including basketball. Kromer and Russell do live play-by-play coverage which is streamed on the Westplex Sports site.  Westplex Sports Network I almost thought of calling us Two Guys and a Microphone (we do have more than one). That’s kind of the way I see ourselves—nothing more, nothing less. It’s not fancy, it’s won’t be ESPN. But it’s offering people a way to listen to a game if they can’t make it, or if they are just interested.     Westplex Sports will be doing play-by-play for 22 games. A complete schedule can …

Timberland Seniors Sign National Letters of Intent

Timberland athletes will be attending the University of Missouri, Maryville University, the Missouri University of Science and Technology and Truman State University.

Andrew Sansoucie, swimming Timberland High School senior Andrew Sansoucie has committed to swim for the Tigers of the University of Missouri. With his mother Nan and father David by his side, Andrew signed his National Letter of Intent at Timberland High School. “I got to the campus, and Mizzou just felt right. I had the chance to spend some time with the team, and we all got along great, it was a good fit. The coaching staff is incredible, and I’ve already bonded with them.”  Andrew won two more state titles at this year's Missouri State High School Swimming and Diving Championships Nov. 9-10 at the Rec-Plex Arena in St. Peters. Holt Seniors Commit to College Sports Teams

Holt sports standouts will be playing college-level sports at North Dakota State University, Truman State University in Kirksville and Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg.

Clayton Ream, wrestling Holt High School senior Clayton Ream has committed to wrestle for the Bisons of North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND. With his mother Pattie and father Patrick by his side, Clay signed his National Letter of Intent at Holt High School on November 14th. Clay is the 2012 USAW 145 lb. Junior National Champion and finished 2nd this year at the Missouri State Class 4 Competition. He competed for the Indians at the varsity level for three years (two years as Captain) earning three GAC Conference championships and placed at the state level all three years. His varsity record was 42-3 for the Indians. Clay also earned two varsity letters in …

Holt High School Retires Uniform Numbers of Football, Softball Standouts

Dan Alexander, Class of'96, and Melissa Gentile, class of '96, were honored at this year's Homecoming game.

The jerseys of two Holt High School alumni were officially retired during the school’s Homecoming game on Friday, September 28th. With their families by their side, former Holt football player Dan Alexander (#38) and former Holt softball catcher Melissa Gentile (#4) were honored before hundreds of Indian fans during a special ceremony at Soby Field.  Dan Alexander  Alexander graduated from Holt in 1996 and was redshirted his first year at Nebraska where he went on to be a First Team All-Big 12 Conference linebacker/fullback. Alexander finished his career ranked 10th on Nebraska's all-time rushing list with 2,456 yards. He scored 20 rushing touchdowns and had 13 …

Football Season Begins for Holt and Timberland at Jamborees Friday

The 2012 season will feature new-look districts for Wentzville football teams.

Prep football kicks off this week for Holt High School and Timberland High School. This Friday, after spending the summer hitting the same players and seeing the same faces on the practice fields, players will take the field for jamborees, which are basically dress rehearsals against other teams with no scores kept. Holt's jamboree will be at CBC Friday night, while Timberland will travel to Parkway Central. The season, which won't start until Aug. 24, will have a new District look this season.  The Missouri State High School Activities Association released District assignment earlier this spring for the 2012 and 2013 season. Under the old format, schools were placed in four or five-team Districts and the last three to four weeks of the …
