The snow came on Thursday and made the roads an snowy mess. You know what comes after that? School closings. Most, if not all, the schools in St. Charles County closed ahead of Thursday's storm. Tornado warnings one day, snow a few days later! Be prepared—winter is bound to make itself known, so check out Wentzville's school closing information.
Notifying parents when school is closed is important, and the Wentzville School District has a number of ways to make sure that parents (and all those kids cheering in the background) get the news: Makeup Days This year, the district is trying something new with make-up days. Six days—Feb. 15, March 4, April 1, and May 28, 29, 30—have been designated as possible make-up days. These dates are already listed in the district calendar as not being in session. However, if a school day is canceled then school will be in session on those days. If there are less than six snow days used, the last day of school will be no later than May 30.

Winter storm could drop four inches of snow before it leaves the area Monday night.
All after-school activities in the Wentzville School District have been canceled for Monday because of inclement weather, school officials announced. A winter storm entered the Wentzville area Monday morning and is expected to drop two to four inches of snow, according to the National Weather Service. The National Weather Service has the bi-state area, including Wentzville, under a winter weather advisory. Good morning, Lake Saint Louis! It finally caught up with us—winter, I mean. So we have our first school-closing snow day of 2012. My husband, who works in Clayton, reported a couple hours ago that he didn't manage to make it over 20 mph between Lake Saint Louis and Mid Rivers Mall Drive. I asked if that was because of the snow or because of the traffic. He said "Yes." Funny guy. But looking out of my window, it really doesn't look like a lot of the stuff has fallen. There are still patches of green grass poking through. Sometimes it's just the anticipation of snow that causes more mayhem in our lives. Did schools close because they were expecting more? The Wentzville School District is closed due to snow. For a list of other school closings, see KSDK's list of closings. Wentzville GED classes also are closed tonight. According to the National Weather Service, there was about a half-inch of snow in the region overnight. Although there isn't much snow, icy conditions on roads and highways have caused several accidents and traffic jams. Many districts in St. Charles County have called off classes Thursday because of the blowing snow and road conditions.
The Wentzville School District has cancelled classes at all schools in the district due to to the over snowfall and high winds. KSKD Channel 5 News reported that temperatures will continue to drop to near 20 degrees. A winter weather advisory has been posted for St. Charles County today.

A light rain that began to fall Wednesday evening quickly turned to an icy glaze.
An icy glaze that has coated roads, sidewalks and cars has quickly become a problem for drivers. By 8:30, two accidents had already been reported at I-70 and Pearce Blvd. in Wentzville, and another at Hwy A in Lake Saint Louis. Fox 2 News reported that the precipitation was expected to continue only until midnight, but that side streets and sidewalks would be treacherous in the morning. By 10 p.m., Wentzville School District was added to the list of schools that decided to close on Thursday, Dec. 16 Wentzville School District reports closings to televisions stations KTVI Channel 2, KMOV Channel 4 and KSDK Channel 5 and to radio stations KWRE 730 AM, KFAV 99.9 FM and KMOX 1120 AM.
