The 2012 boys soccer season is in the books for all the Gateway Athletic Conference teams, but it's time to take a look back. Yes, it's time for another edition of the St. Charles County Athlete of the Week fan poll. Except this week has a twist. Instead of looking at the last week, we're looking at the entire season.  Tell us in the poll below: Who was the top GAC boys soccer player in 2012? Jordan Stephens—Francis Howell: Francis Howell's Jordan Stephens was the top point getter in all of the GAC. Stephens was led the GAC South, all of the GAC with his 67 points. And the Winner is: Timberland's Erica Boyd Claims Athlete of the Week Crown

Timberland's keeper Erica Boyd wins the fan vote for St. Charles County Athlete of the Week.

Patch commenter Matt Futbol was right, goaltenders do win the championships.  In this Athlete of the Week post the goal was to find the fan's choice for the top girls soccer player from the first week of action. Matt commented on the post and said: "goal scoring wins games, goal keeping wins championships." While the St. Charles Athlete of the Week may not be a big-time championship, Matt hit the nail on the head, because this week's winner was a goalie.  After north of 5,000 votes, Timberland's Erica Boyd has been tabbed by you, the voting crowd, as the top girls soccer player in St. Charles County for the first week of the season. Boyd dominated the voting, picking up 72 percent of all votes cast.  Here's how the voting went down.  Total…

We have: http://stpeters.patch.com/articles/athlete-of-the-week-kacy-eschweiler It's just a matter of logistics. Also, while the poll is available across the five St. Charles County Patch websites, we decided that the winner's story, if we had one, would go in the home Patch site. St. …   more ›
