The title of this article is missing an apostrophe in the word "Teacher's" and it is also questionable in how the end of the title is constructed. I don't think the work "Charges" is necessary in the title since indictment indicates they are being charged. It would read far better if, for example, it said, "Ex-Teacher's Aide Indicted for Sexual Misconduct with Student."   more ›

During this Teacher Appreciation Week, let's take a look back and remember the teachers whose influence left an indelible mark on our lives.
Hooray for teachers! "With my daughter getting ready for high school, I have been thinking a lot about the teachers who influenced me during those formative years. Especially I have been thinking on the three teachers who influenced me the most and set me my feet more firmly on the road I walk today: Sandy Nolkemper, Bill Brown and Sherry Brandes. I hope they know what a wonderful thing they did for me and the other students whose lives they touched. I praise them and all teachers. What you do reaches far into the future. God bless all teachers, past, present and future." - Anita Branson Teaching a love for the written word "Mr. Fitzpatrick was my eighth grade English teacher, and an inspiration for me to this day, 13 years later. "He …
During this Teacher Appreciation Week, let's take a look back and remember the teachers whose influence left an indelible mark on our lives.
A stern voice, a warm heart "One very influential teacher in my life was one of my high school and junior high English teachers. Gerri Clifton. She is now an instructional coach at Hazelwood West High School. She was a teacher when I attended the school. Being a person of color, at that time it was her and one other teacher of color at the school and she really bonded with all of her students. "Mrs. Clifton was like a second mom at school. She made sure you were on your schoolwork. If there were a scholarship or some type of program she felt would benefit you, she would stay on you to apply. She also sponsored and after school club, Cultural Awareness. It's always important to have a person you feel can mentor you and in high school, Mrs. …
For his years teaching driver's education.
Paul “Rich” Johnson has been awarded the Missouri Driver & Safety Education Association (MODSEA) Teacher of the Year Award. Johnson has taught Drivers’ Education for the Wentzville School District for 40 years. He also served two years as president of MODSEA. He currently holds the record for continuous hours of driving lessons — 12 hours in one day. Johnson retired from full-time teaching in May of 2000, but continues to instruct Drivers’ Education at Holt for students after school. “His enthusiasm for teaching kids is still as strong today as it was 40 years ago!” said friend and colleague William Schoonover, who nominated Johnson for the state award.

The Peine Ridge teacher has her own formula for teaching kids to love learning.
Ashley Barton knew her destiny at an early age. She told her grandfather that she would be a teacher when she was just in the third grade. But her early inclination didn't mean she didn't explore other options. Five different majors caught her attention as a freshman at The University of Missouri. But Barton found her way back to her first love of education and has not looked back since. Teaching at Peine Ridge Elementary School since it opened in 2006, Barton was named 2011 teacher of the year last November and then teacher of the year for the entire Wentzville R-IV School District, which includes 16 schools. “I was shocked,” she said. “There are so many great teachers in our district that it was such a big honor.” According to the …
