GM to Build New Truck in Wentzville, Add 1,200 Jobs

General Motors North American President Mark Reuss told the media on Tuesday that the company will roll out a new line of mid-sized pickup trucks that will be built in Wentzville and be on the market in 2014.

General Motors plans to roll out a line of completely revamped midsize pickup trucks, with gas mileage and features designed to take sales from Toyota’s market-leading Tacoma. Even better, GM plans to build the trucks at its Wentzville assembly factory, which will add more than 1,200 new jobs to the local market.  That's all according to the The Washington Post, which reported the news Tuesday. The report goes on to say the trucks, due out sometime in 2014, will be slightly larger than a Tacoma with engines and transmissions that get better mileage than GM’s full-size trucks. Driver Hits Three Tractor Trailers in Parking Lot and Leaves, Police Say

The man hit the trucks in the Travel Centers parking lot in Foristell. Missouri Highway Patrol trooper located the driver in a rest area west of Wright City.

An out-of-state man collided with three commercial trucks in the Travel Centers of America parking lot in Foristell and left the scene, police said. Michael Bennett, 54, of Stockbridge, GA, hit three trucks in the parking lot at about 6:44 p.m. Feb. 13, and a 2011 Freightliner received more than $1,000 in damages, according to Foristell Police. He then left the parking lot and went west on Interstate 70, police said. A Missouri Highway Patrol trooper located Bennett at the rest area west of Wright City and took him back to the Travel Centers parking lot. Bennett told officers, “I know I should have stayed,” according a to a court document. Police said his blood-alcohol level at the time of the accident was 0.11 percent. The legal limit is …

GM Announces Addition and Retention of 1,260 Jobs Today at Wentzville Plant

The company held a press conference at 11 a.m. today at the Wentzville truck plant.

Officials from General Motors and the United Auto Workers announced the addition or retention of 1,260 new jobs and a second shift at the Wentzville GM Plant. GM will shift the manufacture of its Chevrolet Colorado, a mid-size pickup truck, to the plant. Cathy Clegg, GM's vice president of Manufacturing and Labor, was joined by other GM officials, Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon and Wentzville Mayor Paul Lambi at an 11 a.m. press conference. According to the St. Louis Business Journal, GM will announce a $380 million expansion at the truck plant. The investment and expansion will add a second shift to the plant. GM to Make Major Announcement about Wentzville Plant Thursday

Gov. Jay Nixon and Mayor Paul Lambi will attend the press conference.

Officials from General Motors and the United Auto Workers will be in Wentzville Thursday for a major announcement. GM is holding a press conference at 11 a.m. at the Wentzville GM Plant. The company's officials will be joined by Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon and Wentzville Mayor Paul Lambi. According to the St. Louis Business Journal, GM will announce a $380 million expansion at the truck plant. The investment and expansion will add a second shift to the plant. The city of Wentzville previously approved the use of Chapter 100 bonds for the plant, which allow GM to abate some of the costs of the expansion. The additional shift is expected to add 400 jobs beginning in January. Some of those workers will come from a GM plant in Spring Hill, TN. The…
