Heisman Watch: Will Timberland's Montee Ball Make the List?

On Saturday, Ball broke the all-time career touchdown record in FBS college football.

On Nov. 24, Wisconsin running back and former Timberland football star Montee Ball broke the all-time career touchdown record in FBS (Football Bowl Subdivision) college football. Ball’s 17 yard touchdown run in the first quarter was the 79th of his career, a Wentzville School District press release reported, breaking the 13-year-old record set by Miami (Ohio) running back Travis Prentice. With that record, Ball passed former All-American running backs like Marshall Faulk, Ron Dayne, Cedric Benson and Ricky Williams. But will the record assure Ball of a Heisman nomination? Nick Holt of The Bleacher Report says no, basing his opinion on the Wisconsin Badgers loss to the Oregon State Beavers in early September. The Beavers completely shut …

Wentzville's Ball Ties Record in Rose Bowl

Timberland graduate tied Barry Sanders' season touchdown record.

It wasn't quite the ending that Wentzville native and Timberland High School graduate Montee Ball had planned, but he did hit a milestone Monday night. The University of Wisconsin junior running back tied Barry Sanders' NCAA record with his 39th touchdown of the season, according to the Huffington Post. But his Wisconsin Badgers lost 45-38 to Oregon in Monday's 98th Rose Bowl game. "We fell short once again," Ball said after the game. "But I believe it is going to make us stronger and we'll make sure to work hard so we can be back here next year. It stings a little. But we are going to approach it just like we did last year after the bowl loss. The only way we can go now is to move forward." USA Today's Campus Rivalry blog reported Tuesday…
