The  16th annual Mayor’s Charity Golf Tournament will be held at Bogey Hills Country Club on Monday, Aug. 12, 2013. The entry fee is $200 per person or $800 for a four-person team. Sponsorships are available starting @ $150. Each year, the Mayor’s Charity Golf Tournament Committee accepts applications from the City of St. Charles 501c3 charities.  This year the deadline to submit applications is Friday, May 24 , 2013. Volunteer for Rhythm and Ribs at SCC  Rhythm & Ribs is a fun-filled evening of live music,mouth-watering food and dancing. The 4th annual event will be held on the St. Charles Community College campus in Cottleville on Friday May 10.  Doors will open at 6 p.m. with the St. Charles West Jazz Ensemble and at 7 p.m., a new Rhythm Revue will feature SCC talent. Smash Band will return, live on the main stage at 8:30 p.m. Proceeds will support scholarships and academic enhancements at SCC.  Ribs will be served by Ethyl’s Smokehouse, Mannino’s Market, Rib City and Stumpy’s Bar-B-Que. Showers of Love Collection Event Seeks Volunteers

Personal Care Items Drive The Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri will collect personal care items from customers at their local Wal-Mart stores. The girls need volunteers to help with the collecting, couting and packaging of these items at all of the Wal-Mart stores in the St Louis and surrounding areas. If you can help on April 13 from 10-4pm at your local Wal-Mart, head here to sign up. Nurses for Newborns will collect items for babies at the St. Peters Walmart on 1661 Jungermann St. Charles 63304 on Thursday April 25. Fill Baskets for Hospitalized Children

Three ways to give back to your community.

Fill gift baskets for children.  Volunteers will fill more than 1,000 baskets and totes to be given to hospitalized children and their families from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 25 at Fontbonne University and from 9 a.m. to noon April 6 at Concordia publishing house. The baskets are filled with toys, games, craft items and books. Register here. Fee of $25 for adults will help purchase toys for the baskets.  Play Chess with Kids The Foster and Adoptive Care Coalition needs volunteers to play chess with foster or adopted children from noon to 1:30 p.m. March 23. Help Kids with Nutrition Habits OASIS is looking for volunteers age 50+ to implement the CATCH Healthy Habits nutrition program with children in grades K-5. Teach kids healthy ways of living and have fun at the same time too! The program involves a lesson, nutritious snack, and fun games! The volunteer commitment is just one hour per week for 8 weeks, starting in March. Training and equipment provided.
