Wentzville Board Approves First Reading of Contract for New Administrator

McDowell is currently serving as City Manager for Olivette.

On Wednesday evening, the Wentzville Board of Aldermen approved the first reading of a bill approving a contract for the employment of a new city administrator, Michael McDowell. McDowell is currently serving as the city manager of Olivette. McDowell was in the audience at the meeting and stayed for almost an hour until a problem with microphones forced Mayor Nick Guccione to call for a break. Job Posting: Wentzville City Administrator

The city of Wentzville has been without a full-time city administrator for a year.

The postion of Wentzville City Administrator was posted on the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) website on Aug. 25. The listing states that qualified candidates should have: Salary for the position is listed at $109,000 - $140,000, with excellent benefits. Some of the items that are listed as future issues that the new city administrator will be addressing are: increasing the pace of downtown redevelopment, enhancing the safety of major highway crossing in the city, coming up with creative approaches to development of a new City Hall and economic development to complement GM and additional retail shopping and establishment of a long range strategic plan. Wentzville Will Seek Outside Help to Find New Administrator

After two rounds of interviews, the Wentzville Board of Aldermen has decided to hire a professional recruiting firm to fill the position of City Administrator.

The Wentzville Board of Aldermen has decided to seek help filling the City Administrator position that has been vacant since the resignation of Dianna Wright in late August of last year. "We need to decide and come to an agreement tonight," Ward 1 Alderman Cheryl Kross said. "I would support going out to a third-party firm to start the process over for a city administrator." Ward 3 Alderman Rick Stokes agreed. "We ran a process. We got a lot of applicants, but we didn’t get the candidates we hoped for. We’ve gone for an extremely long time without a CA." Wentzville Interviewing City Administrator Candidates Friday

The city has been without a city administrator since Dianna Wright left the position in late August 2011.

The City of Wentzville issued an announcement today that the board of aldermen would hold a closed meeting tomorrow, April 20, at 4 p.m. to interview more candidates for the position of City Administrator. The city has been without a city administrator since Dianna Wright abruptly left in late August. City officials cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for Wright's resignation. She had served in the position since June 2008. Wentzville’s Director of Finance and Assistant City Administrator, Dennis Walsh, has served as the interim city administrator while the position remained unfilled.
